Ralli quilts are a visual feast of colour, pattern and energy. They are a strong cultural symbol in rural Rajasthani villages and are lovely examples of recycling textiles, mainly from clothes, often using shirts, pants, head shawls, shawls; a collection of worn-out clothes from the family household.
They are made by the local women in the village using passed down textile skills taught by their mothers and are part of daily life, used as bedding. Rallis quilts are often made as a dowry, wedding gift or gift to the village holy men. Textile collectors see Rallis as the true folk art of the region.
Our Rallis are from a private collection acquired over many years, offered for the first time, each being one-of-a-kind.
Please be aware these are old textiles often showing wear, imperfections, marks and general signs of age. We see this as adding to the charm and appeal of these treasured textiles. Please get in touch with us if you would like additional information.
