Rug Care Guide

Rug Care Guide

Our rugs are handwoven or hand-knotted, incredibly durable and designed to last a lifetime. Our hand-knotted rugs are heirloom quality. With just a little care, your Jaypore Weaves rug can stay looking its best.

Day-to-day maintenance

We suggest your rug should be vacuumed regularly to prevent the build-up of dust and grit. Occasionally the back of the rug should also be vacuumed to keep it dust free and help prevent moths harboring in the rug.

We recommend using a non-slip underlay under your rug.

Rotating your rug is essential to avoid any uneven areas of wear.

Protect your rug from strong sunlight as over time this will cause fading.

To avoid dents, use casters under legs of furniture.

Dealing with Spills and Stains

The golden rule with any liquid spills is to act fast. Immediately blot with a white paper towel or white cloth, soaking up the liquid until dry. Do not rub.

If there is a stain to remove, we recommend using a reputable rug cleaning service. We do not recommend commercial stain removers.

General Maintenance

We recommend using a professional rug cleaning service. Before cleaning commences, always inspect the rug with the cleaner, to confirm the condition of the rug and collect a signed receipt.

The best way to store rugs is to roll them (width) up tightly, starting the roll from the side that is opposite the direction of the pile.

The rugs should then be wrapped in plastic or fabric with some mothballs and stored in a dry place. Heavy items should not be placed on top of the rug.
